GENERAL POLiCiES
Our policies have been established to protect all members of AiR CiTY CHiCKS (players and coaches alike). We ask that you respect yourselves and other members of this club when making decisions that could affect any of us.
We hope that AiR CiTY CHiCKS becomes known as a classy program, one that promotes ethical decision making, great sportsmanship (in victory and defeat), and respect for the game and its proponents. Please help us create this type of a program by adhering to our policies and procedures:
- Players must wear regular t-shirts to practice. Shirts must be full length, full-sleeved t-shirts that completely cover the waistband of player's spandex. Cut-off shirts or exposure of midriff skin is not acceptable and won't be tolerated. Please dress like an athlete.
- Parents may not approach coaches during practice or tournaments to discuss any type of problem situation. Coaches will be happy to schedule time with parents (and player) to discuss and, hopefully, resolve a problem situation. Coaches will not address these issues at practice or tournaments.
- Equal playing time at matches is not guaranteed. Coaches will do their best to play all athletes during tournament time, but equal time will not be guaranteed and should not be expected. Questions about playing time should be addressed with coaches in a pre-scheduled meeting that will include player, parents and coaches.
- Parents are responsible for securing transportation to and from practices and tournaments for their daughter. Parents, please be respectful of your coaches' time and be onsite to pick your daughter up when a practice is scheduled to end!
- Once a player accepts a position with AiR CiTY CHiCKS, she is responsible for paying ALL club fees even if injury precludes a her from participating in any/all tournaments. Players who choose to discontinue their season (for any reason) are also obligated to pay all pre-determined fees. Any exceptions to this are at the discretion of the club director and head coach.
- Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated at any AiR CiTY CHiCKS practices, tournaments or events. This includes, but is not limited to foul language, rude or inappropriate gestures, general disrespect of other persons or property.
- Players and teams are required to officiate and scorekeep during tournaments, this is a USA Volleyball rule. Players ages 14 and up are required to obtain OVR certification in either scorekeeping or down officiating. 13-and-under players are required to obtain OVR scorekeeping certification. Certification opportunities will be provided by AiR CiTY CHiCKS.
- Players will not be permitted to leave a tournament site until all officiating responsibilities have been completed by her team. Permission to leave early will be your head coach's discretion.
- For safety reasons, players may not leave a practice site, tournament site or tournament lodging without notifying the coach and obtaining his/her permission.
- During multi-day tournaments that require overnight lodging, players must room with their parent/guardian or with a teammate and that player's female parent. Players will not be allowed to room in an unchaperoned room.
ATTENDANCE
AiR CiTY CHiCKS recognizes and supports the fact that many of our athletes may also play other school sports and may be involved in other school or extra-curricular activities. We also recognize how difficult it is to put a team together when coaches or members of that team are absent during training sessions. Our attendance policy is designed to try to accommodate busy schedules AND our goal of developing better volleyball players and worthy teams.
- Player MUST notify team coach(es) whenever she is going to miss practice or arrive more than 15 minutes late for practice. This notification should be given at least 24 hours in advance. Team coach(es) will inform you of the best method for contacting him/her.
- Missing a practice may result in a loss of playing time at the next tournament, the extent of this will be determined by the team's head coach with consideration of the reason for absence and the impact the player's absence has on the team.
- Missing more than half of a practice will count as one absence.
- Missing any part of a tournament will count as an absence and result in at least a one-game "sit" at the next tournament. The timing of this penalty will be determined by the head coach.
- Regardless of the reason, a player may not incur 10 (or more) absences. The 10th occurrence will result in a review by the team coaches and Club Director and may result in suspension from the team/club. Expulsion from the club is a possible consequence for continued absences after exceeding the initial 10 absences.
